Fluorescent Mineral Room Project August 15, 2016

Arkona Lions Museum And Information Centre update on the fluorescent mineral room . A square was cut into the metal door in the Museum and a piece of UV protected glass and frame was Installed Into the metal door by Color Craft Auto Glass in Arkona, Ontario , they are making shelves that will hang from the ceiling and fluorescent minerals will be put onto it . And a UV light will hang down pointing at it to make the fluorescent minerals emit visible light when activated by invisible Ultraviolet light . It will be a great color light show of various colors when completed . And it will be a great addition to the Museum , and a learning experience for the visitors ,and education programs that occur at the Museum

The Arkona Lions Museum And Information Centre Fluorescent Mineral Room Update. The Fluorescent mineral room project consists of: 1 Long Wave UV light system 1 Short Wave UV Light system The 2 U V light systems above are hung up by chains. 1 UV Flood Light is hung up by chains and steel wire . A square was cut into the metal door and is framed ,and a glass window was installed , the glass has a UV protection coating on it . 3 wooden shelves hang by 4 chains that are on hooks on the ceiling . Fluorescent Minerals were obtained - Over 1 dozen assorted colors are visible from the fluorescent minerals on the display . (Assorted variations of red, purple,green,grey,blue,orange, yellow,pink,brown etc ) lots of Christmas colours. The light switch from inside the room had to be moved to the outside of the room, along with an additional timer switch for the UV light system and a receptacle was Installed onto the ceiling to be able to plug in the UV light systems . Laminated signs were made saying - Fluorescent Mineral Room The instructions on how to use the system Also one was made describing Fluorescence . The frame around the installed window on the door needs to be painted . 2 walls in the Fluorescent Mineral Room will be painted with Black paint to help the UV light systems bring out the colors of the Fluorescent Minerals . The visitors that came to the Museum Love the display , and it is a great addition
